Sutherland Wins 3rd Straight Joe Martin
5/12/2009Rory Sutherland of Team OUCH Presented by Maxxis has won his third consecutive Joe Martin race. Sutherland took the overall lead in the second stage and held it through the remainder of the four-stage contest. The race was held May 7-10 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Sutherland, who scored second-place finishes in both the time trial and Stage 2, praised his team for working together to secure his victory. "The guys, as last year and the year before, rode amazingly," he told cyclingnews.com. "It's a lot easier to lead on the front in the criterium, and I think we had the strength for it today. I think this week showed that we picked up what we've been missing in the early part of the season. We rode together in a way that took control of the race."
His finish in 10.23.09 hours bested the next rider’s by nine seconds. Sutherland’s teammate John Murphy also did well, taking 13th place in the final classification.
Maxxis congratulates Rory Sutherland on his victory and congratulates OUCH Presented by Maxxis for their fifth Joe Martin win.
