Bowers Wins Rounds 8-9 of AMA Arenacross
1/12/2012Continuing his strong performance in the AMA Arenacross series, Tyler Bowers of Team Babbitt’s presented by Maxxis won Rounds 8 and 9, held January 6-7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Bowers aggressively went after the lead throughout the main event at Round 8, gaining it for good in Lap 17. He grabbed the front position even earlier the next night, taking the lead in the sixth lap. His win on Saturday came despite a malfunction that led to a big crash during the Dash for Cash held earlier in the evening. In an outstanding example of teamwork, every member of the Babbitt’s line-up assisted in repairs, allowing Bowers to compete in the main event.
His sweep of the weekend vaulted Bowers into the series’ overall lead, with 188 points and six wins to date. “My weekend went great,” said Bowers. “I executed my plan to gain those six points back for the lead in the championship. The track was really slick this weekend, and my Maxxis tires allowed me to get the drive around and out of the turns to make some of the biggest jumps we've seen this season!”
Teammate Chad Johnson also turned in an excellent performance, securing third place in Round 8 and fourth in Round 9. Johnson is third in series points.
